Peer Review Policy

All articles submitted to Jurnal Mengkaji Indonesia will be reviewed by our reviewers before being published. The reviewer will assess the writing, whether it is comprehensive and if the article is helpful in contributing to the field studied.

First step: evaluation of manuscripts

The Editor will first evaluate all manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Mengkaji Indonesia. It is possible for an exceptional manuscript to be accepted at this step. Articles rejected are because they are insufficiently original, have scientific flaws or are outside the Focus and Scope of Jurnal Mengkaji Indonesia. The articles that meet the minimum criteria will be passed to our reviewers accordingly.

Second step: peer review

The manuscripts passed from the first step will be reviewed by an expert in the field who will be asked to evaluate whether the manuscript is sound and coherent scientifically, whether it duplicates published works, and whether the manuscript is clear for publication. The method used in the peer review is blind peer review. The reviewing process will consider originality, novelty, method, objectivity, scientific impact, conclusion and references.

Third step: decision

The reviewers will advise the editor, who is responsible for the final decision to accept or reject the article. The decision made will be based on the reports from reviewers, and if necessary, they will consult with the Editorial Board. The editor’s decision is final.

For checking Plagiarism, the editors from Jurnal Mengkaji Indonesia will screen plagiarism manually (offline and online database) on the Title, Abstract, and Body Text of the manuscript, and by using plagiarism detection software (Turnitin). If it is found a plagiarism indication, the editorial board will reject the manuscript immediately.

Review Process:

Editor receives a manuscript from author;

The editor evaluates the manuscript (journal aim and scope, in house style, supplementary data); (Rejected if the article does not meet the criteria)

Editor screening for plagiarism on offline and online databases manually; (Rejected if the article has major plagiarism, contacted author if found redundancy or minor plagiarism for clarification)

Editor sends the manuscript to reviewer along with review form (double-blind review, Both reviewer and author remain anonymous to each other);

Reviewer sends back his review form to the editor (with revised manuscript if necessary);

Editor's decision (rejected, require major revision, need minor revision, or accepted);

Confirmation to the Author:

If the manuscripts need to be revised, the author revised manuscripts and should be returned to the editor without delay. Returned later than three months will be considered as new submissions.

All the above processes including the review process shall be performed utilizing the OJS (online journal system) in which both author and reviewer have to register themselves via the Journal’s web page.
